LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

SAFE AT HOME PROFILES

CARE PROVIDER OF THE QUARTER!

Guadalupe is a great staff member! Not only is she punctual, but she is also smart, she is caring and she conducts herself professionally. Guadalupe is a fantastic member of the team because she is flexible and makes oneself available when needed and if she does not know something she asks. She is not only a fast learner and but one who is also open and willing to learn! Guadalupe is part of Dorothy’s original staff! She has great communication, her client loves her, and we are lucky to have her on our team. Congratulations Guadalupe!

HAVE YOU MET…?

Santa Cruz Native, Glory has been a fantastic addition to the Safe at Home Senior Care team. She has worked at Safe at Home for six years, starting out as an on-call scheduler and caregiving, and has since moved to the office and is now doing Administrative work. Glory loves spending time with her amazing 8-year-old son, doing various outdoor activities, and spending quality time together.

“I love working for Safe At Home
and just helping others in any way that I am able.”

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

SUE HATCH WILSON

Born in Barkley, California 1932, and raised in Alameda, Sue has been a client with Safe at Home for six years. She graduated from Mills College in 1954 and majored in Arts. Sue married Jim Wilson in 1955 and widowed in 2017. They raised 4 children, three of them live here in Santa Cruz and one in Florida who will be returning soon. Sue is big on volunteering and fundraising. Her interest in art has slowed down, journaling and sketching have come to a stop. Nowadays, Sue reads a lot, and she collages and makes greeting cards. She looks forward to resuming a woman’s group named Coffee, a very rewarding feeling for Sue after her husband passed away. Sue’s last big trip was to London, in 2018 with Mary. She is looking forward to more traveling when the virus goes away.  Sue had her knee replaced in 2009 and her second knee replacement in 2010, she found then that she needed help after the surgeries. Sue’s friend Mary Skillicorn, became part of her life, so successful that her husband started coming for lunch to be part of it all, and the three eventually traveled to Tahiti.

Safe at Home took over care in the springtime of Jim’s death. After his death, a great number of helpers came, nearly all were perfect. Sue had shoulder surgery, once again Safe at Home moved in with many helpers. To this day Ryan, Suzi, Luisa, and others continuously offer help, advice and whose kindness is 100% percent there. Sue looks forward to her future with Safe at Home, especially with Janet and Mary by her side.

“I am pleased to have my family know I have sound care, and that my husband Jim’s purchase of a plan for that care was a resounding success. Thank you.”
