A Message from Safe at Home Senior Care
After 20 years of serving seniors and their families throughout Santa Cruz County, Safe at Home Senior Care, Inc. will be closing its doors. Our last day of providing care will be Friday, October 2, 2026.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision. For two decades, it has been our privilege to be part of the Santa Cruz County community and to provide compassionate care that has helped seniors remain safely and comfortably in their own homes. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has trusted Safe at Home to care for themselves or someone they love.
Over the years, the cost and complexity of operating a small home-care business have increased significantly. Rising wages and employee costs, health insurance, licensing and regulatory requirements, and the ongoing challenge of recruiting and retaining qualified caregivers have all presented growing challenges. At the same time, the home-care industry has become increasingly competitive.
After much thought and careful consideration, we have concluded that closing the business is the right decision, even though it is not an easy one.
20 Years of Caring for Our Community
Since opening our doors in 2006, Safe at Home Senior Care has had the honor of caring for countless seniors and supporting families throughout Santa Cruz County. What began as a small local home-care company grew into a community of dedicated caregivers, coordinators, clients, and families who shared a common goal: helping seniors live safely and independently at home.
We are especially proud of the relationships built along the way. Our work has never been simply about providing a service. It has been about getting to know the people we cared for, supporting their families, and being there during some of life's most important moments.
Most of all, we are grateful for the caregivers who have represented Safe at Home over the past 20 years. Their compassion, dedication, and commitment to the people they served are at the heart of this organization and its history.
Looking Ahead
We recognize that the closure of a local home-care agency may bring uncertainty for the seniors and families who have relied on our services. Our team will work diligently during the transition period to support our current clients and caregivers and to help connect those affected with alternative resources whenever possible.
While this chapter is coming to an end, we are incredibly proud of the legacy Safe at Home Senior Care has built over the past 20 years.
To our clients, families, caregivers, referral partners, fellow senior-care professionals, and members of the Santa Cruz County community thank you!
Thank you for your trust, your support, your partnership, and for allowing Safe at Home Senior Care to be a part of this community for the past two decades.
It has truly been an honor to serve Santa Cruz County.
With gratitude,
Ryan Colligan
