Caregiver Spotlight: Connie McKee
Celebrating 20 Years of Family Helping Families
As Safe at Home Senior Care celebrates 20 years of serving Santa Cruz County, we're proud to recognize the caregivers who make our mission possible every day.
Connie McKee has been part of the Safe at Home family for over 15 years, providing compassionate care and meaningful support to local seniors and their families.
For Connie, caregiving is about helping people remain where they feel most comfortable at home.
"If they didn't have in-home help, they would not be able to stay in their home and live out their days there."
Throughout her career, Connie has seen firsthand how in-home care helps older adults maintain their independence, dignity, and connection to the lives they've built.
"Who wants to go into an assisted living place if they don't have to, if they can stay in their home?"
One of her favorite parts of caregiving is getting to know her clients and hearing the stories and experiences they've gathered throughout their lives.
"They have a lot of experiences and memories they like to share."
Connie believes seniors continue to have value, wisdom, and so much to contribute, regardless of the challenges that come with aging.
"They still have a lot to give."
She also emphasizes the importance of training and education, especially when supporting individuals living with dementia, ensuring caregivers can provide the best possible care.
After more than a decade and a half with Safe at Home, Connie remains passionate about helping seniors age with dignity in the place they call home.
"I'm honored to be a part of the Safe at Home team. Congratulations on 20 years of service—Family Helping Families."
