Jack grew up in Davis, CA with his mother and father and two older sisters. Jack had lots of friends. In high school, Jack played football, tennis, and ran track. After high school, he attends college at UC Davis but transferred to UC Berkeley where he earned his degree. Jack was in the Navy towards the end of WWII and was the ship’s radar technician. Jack’s career was in food science. His first job was working as a chemist for Pacific Olive company in Visalia. Later, Jack transferred to work Modesto, Ca when he was offered a job with Tri-Valley Foods. He was the manager of research and new products. He remained here until his retirement. While in Visalia, Jack liked driving to Fresno to go dancing on the weekends. This is where he met his first wife Dorothy.
Jack and Dorothy were married in 1950. He and Dorothy remained happily married until Dorothy passed away in 1995. Jack met Jean in 1996. Jean’s first husband also died in 1995, and mutual friends introduced Jack and Jean to one another. They married in 1998 and created a beautiful second marriage together until Jean passed away in 2017. Throughout Jack’s life, he has enjoyed music and dancing, travel, photography, tennis, and was an avid golfer. Even getting a hole in one! He also loved cars and as a young man loved to put the top down on his convertible and take long drives. He has enjoyed many close friendships over the years — one that began in elementary school and lasted a lifetime.
Jack turned 101 on September 30th! He continues to be an inspiration to his family and friends!
